Film: Respect Yourself: The Stax Records Story  
This locally directed and produced documentary, which originally aired on PBS’ “Great Performances” in August 2007 and went on to screen at film festivals such as the 2010 Amakula International Film Festival in Uganda, celebrates the triumphs of Memphis’ own Stax Records label, as well as the genius of its artists and musicians. Creation Station: Carvable Critters

An exciting drop-in art-making activity for children (ages 4 – 12) and their grown-ups. Presented by Thomas & Betts Corporation.What’s your favorite kind of critter? Using a soft material and a simple carving tool, children will create small sculptures of their favorite four-, six-, or eight-legged creatures. Free with museum admission and always free for children 6 & under.

Presented in conjunction with the Rhodes College symposium “Telling Katrina’s Stories: Interpreting Hurricane Katrina Five Years After,” this documentary was filmed by eighth-graders at the first New Orleans school to reopen in Katrina’s aftermath. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo  

This 2009 Swedish film adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s first novel in his Millennium Trilogy stars as Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander, a troubled 24-year old hacker, and Michael Nyqvist as Mikael Blomkvist as the middle-aged investigative journalist who she has under surveillance. Film: Leonard Cohen’s Songs From the Road  
The Brooks closes out programming for the Who Shot Rock & Roll exhibition with this concert film, which features dozen of Cohen’s most famous songs, including “Chelsea Hotel” and “Hallelujah,” culled from his recent world tour and captured onstage at auditorium halls, festivals, arenas and stadiums from Tel Aviv to London, from across Europe to the California desert and his native Canada. The Maid

This Chilean dramedy from Sebastian Silva has garnered numerous accolades since its premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, including a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign-Language Film and the Audience Award from the Paris Cinema International Film Festival. The film, which explores Latino social hierarchies, stars Catalina Saavedra as the fiercely territorial – and utterly devoted – maid for the Valdes family, who resists the idea of being replaced after 23 years of service.
