Donate

Individual donors can contribute to the Brooks by Becoming Members or by Making an Online Donation. Donations to the Brooks can be designated for a particular project, or can be unrestricted, allowing us to apply the funding where it's most needed. No matter how you choose to give, we greatly appreciate your support!

For additional information on these and other types of gifts, contact the Director of Development at 901.544.6203 or development@brooksmuseum.org.

The Brooks recommends that you discuss your gift and estate plans with your own legal and financial advisors so that your personal and charitable goals are wisely met. As always, we are grateful to our many friends and donors.

Individual Gifts can Come in Many Forms:

Tribute Gifts

Honoring a loved one through a gift to the Brooks can be a wonderful way to pay tribute while helping us continue to enrich lives. Any of the gifts described below can be made in remembrance of family members or friends on holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and other occasions, or to honor the memory of someone special in your life. Your gift is fully tax-deductible, and a card will be sent to the person or persons you designate.

Matching Gifts

Many employers match individual gifts to charitable organizations. Contact your personnel office to see if you can strengthen your donation by requesting a matching donation to the Brooks from your employer. Click here to see a list matching gift companies.

Gifts of Cash

Checks and automatic drafts from a checking account are recognized as cash gifts and are fully tax-deductible.

Gifts of Securities

Gifts of appreciated stocks or bonds held for more than one year can provide you with tax benefits. Contact your broker or financial advisor for additional information.

Gifts of Art

Morrie Moss, Hugo Dixon, Julie Isenberg, Marcus Orr, the Goodman Family, the Kress Foundation, and AutoZone—these are just a few examples of the generous patrons who have helped enhance the Brooks’ collection. Gifts of art increase the quality and quantity of the museum’s permanent collection. If you have an important work you would like to consider donating, please review our guidelines for giving art to the Brooks

In-Kind Gifts

Individuals and businesses provide valuable support to the Brooks through non-cash contributions such as services rendered, products donated, or tangible items such as office furniture and computer equipment.

Estate and Planned Gifts

Planned gifts provide a lasting connection, inspiring tomorrow’s members and patrons with a guarantee that the Brooks will continue collecting, exhibiting, and preserving exquisite art for the enjoyment and education of our entire community. * Wills: Remember the Brooks in your will by creating a new will or adding a codicil to your current will. A planned bequest may result in significant estate tax savings and may enable you to make a larger gift than you would be able to in your lifetime.

* Life Insurance Policies: Many people have life insurance policies that no longer need funding. By naming the Brooks as the beneficiary of an existing or new life insurance policy, you may receive a significant tax deduction.

* IRA’s and Keough Retirement Accounts: The Brooks can be named as beneficiary to your retirement account, enabling you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the museum while removing this taxable liability from your estate.

The Brooks Endowment

The Brooks Endowment was created in 1989 to provide a permanent source of income for the operating needs of the museum. The principal is held in perpetuity, and the income is used for unrestricted needs of the museum, including exhibition and educational programming costs. Unrestricted gifts to the endowment are welcomed, as are restricted gifts that establish named funds to support specific areas and needs of the museum.
