Self-Guided Tours
Groups who prefer to visit on their own are welcome to do so, provided that reservations are made. Large groups are encouraged to divide into smaller groups to avoid congestion in the galleries. Audio tour headsets are available at the Amissions Desk.
Guided Tours
A guided tour is the perfect way to obtain more in-depth information about the Brooks’ permanent collection and special exhibitions. Museum-trained volunteer docents provide enjoyable and educational tours suitable for a variety of visitors, including adults, families, and students of all ages. Tours may highlight the entire collection or focus on a particular theme or period.
Two of the most requested permanent collection tours for adults are:
- African Art Adventure
Explore the role of art in African societies – including ceremonial and
daily uses of masks and other sculptures – and the geography and
history of Africa.
- Brooks Passport
Travel to
different times and places through the Brooks’ permanent collection and
discover works ranging from antiquity to the present. Learn about the
art and culture of Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Americas, Europe, and
Africa. Tours put the objects into a larger historical, social,
political, economic, and religious context.
Evening Tour
Guided Tours and Gallery Talks are usually offered on Thursday evening each month. Other Thursdays may feature the current exhibition on view. Please see the Events Calendar for dates and additional information.

TO SCHEDULE A GROUP TOUR:

to 5 pm.
3. Send us an email with all the necessary information.
Advance reservations are required for all group tours. Docent-led
tours are subject to availability and must be scheduled a minimum of
two weeks in advance. Payment is due at the time of your visit.
When calling or sending your request via e-mail, please
provide the following information:

Two to three potential dates and times for your visit

The number people in the group

Contact information for the group leader.

Information about any
special needs
As date, time, and other details of your request may have to
be adjusted, please do not assume a date is reserved for you until you receive
confirmation.
If you must cancel a tour, please notify the museum as soon
as possible. Voice mail is available 24 hours a day at 901.544.6215.
