Sponsor Profiles

Corporate sponsors of the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art make many exciting exhibitions and events available to the community. The museum’s diverse and high-quality programs offer a variety of opportunities for your organization to formulate a valuable partnership with the Brooks.

AutoZone

AutoZone is happy to support the Brooks as a Community Partner. AutoZone and its founder, Joseph R. Hyde III, are dedicated supporters of the museum. In 2001, the Brooks was proud to receive the gift of two hundred and twenty-six works of art from AutoZone’s corporate collection. The AutoZone Collection, begun in 1978, offers a well-rounded selection of artwork created primarily in our region over the last twenty years. The Collection contains countless highlights, including works by Carroll Cloar, William Edmondson, Dorothy Sturm, and Walter Anderson—to name only a few. The Collection helps the Brooks fulfill its goal of placing a greater emphasis on regional art. AutoZone has also assisted the museum with funding for its strategic plan and for various special exhibitions, including Annie Leibovitz: American Music and Snap Judgments: New Positions in African Photography.

Our work is anchored in a philosophy of partnerships with individuals and organizations who, working together, unafraid and determined, become forces for positive change.

Tennessee Arts Commission

Through its variety of programs, the Tennessee Arts Commission encourages excellence in artistic expression through the state's artists and arts organizations.
When the Tennessee Arts Commission was created in 1967, it was given a special mandate by the General Assembly to stimulate and encourage the presentation of performing, visual and literary arts throughout the state and to encourage public interest in the cultural heritage of Tennessee. That commitment has continued to expand through the years to ensure that the citizens of Tennessee have access to, and the opportunity to participate in the arts.

The Tennessee Arts Commission builds better communities by:

  • Investing public dollars in Tennessee's nonprofit arts industry.
  • Providing services to citizens, artists and arts organizations.
  • Undertaking initiatives that enhance Tennessee's cultural life.

These activities give Tennessee citizens a better quality of life, provide our children with a more complete education and attract tourists to our state.

ArtsMemphis

Known around the world for its blues and rock and roll, Memphis has a recognizable special vibe. ArtsMemphis exists to nurture this unique character and to magnify the city’s creative voice.

ArtsMemphis is a 45-year-old arts funding organization (the sixth largest in the United States), which provides operating and project support to 27 arts groups. The ArtsMemphis tagline is “your support matters” and indeed it does. As major fundraisers, grant-makers and arts promoters in the city, ArtsMemphis contributed more than $4 million to the Memphis arts community in 2007, and it is a fact that 95 cents of every dollar raised in their annual campaign is directed to their funded organizations. ArtsMemphis builds partnerships among artists, arts groups, donors, educators and culture lovers throughout the city and region. Recognizing that a lively arts scene has a major economic impact and is essential to the quality of life in Memphis, ArtsMemphis is encouraging the entire community to interact with the arts like never before. The current enhanced website with its expanded calendar of events has been introduced with that goal in mind.
